led a patrol of 3 aircraft south 30Km south of the lines over Severskaya. Strong winds pushed us east and corrections were made. No contacts occurred during two circuits around the city and the planes turned north to return to base. most of the return to base was uneventful until 3 dirty stinking Soviets jumped us in a low energy state close to our airfield. The 3 P-40s were quickly dispatched by myself and our other valiant airmen.
All 3pilots returned safely with myself receiving minor wounds during a forced landing.
