Recon mission turned into a furball today over the northern lines. We spotted contacts heading toward our lines and broke to see what they were. It ended up being a flight of 4 C-47 transport planes with paratroopers. 10 and I took them while 1 and 12 engaged another flight of bombers. We regrouped and got engaged by fighters afterward.
1 got hit by flak at low eleven and went in, and 10 hit the back of a C-47 in the dive. It was a costly mission, and I worry we cannot sustain losses like this if they continue.
