3 plane formation left Anappa, with me in the spare position. Awful weather, low clouds and scattered rain. Sighted a whole bunch of contacts over Krimskaya. Joined big fight involving I don't know who on our side, but I stayed high for the most part. Eventually dropped in on a Lagg, got hits and left him leaking, but had to follow for what felt like forever to get the kill. Very nearly bought the farm -- closed to within about a foot on one bad pass. Eventually he went in and burned south of Krimskaya.

Yellow 1 called that he was engaged by 3(!) fighters east of Krimskaya, was dragging them west. I tried to get in on the fight, but had to dive for the deck on emergency power as one started shooting at me. Witnessed him fail to pull out and leave a burning crater. I believe Yellow 1 witnessed this.

Pulled up and immediately saw another Lagg, engaged it and left it smoking. He fled over Krimskaya airfield, and was shot down by AA. Yellow 1 witnessed this.

Pulled up to loiter and saw Black 2 being engaged by another Lagg. Engaged it and destroyed it in two passes; it rolled over and dove from 700m.

Witnessed Yellow 1 and Black 2 try and fail to shoot down one fighter as it was landing east of Krimskaya.
