Intercepted suspected bombers; encountered a large mixed flight of La5s and Yaks. Shot one down (saw tail come off and he spun), but took hits myself. Thought I was okay, but my wing abruptly snapped off while pulling out from a dive.
The new La5s are dangerous. Maneuverable and very hard to catch.
Both Richter and I were luckily plucked from the water by our S-boats after bailing out.
