Interesting flight today. Nice weather for once.
Greenhorn pilot lost power on take off and bought it. No way he made it out, I could hear his bones crunching from my plane. Rough day for him. Shame I kind of liked him.
Shortly after flying over Krimskaya we spotted a couple of Il-2s.
I'm not too proud to say I lit one up like it was CrystalNacht, such a beautiful site to watch that tail come apart and see him spinning down to his death.
Yellow Lead took out the other one and we booked it back to base in a a hail of AAA fire.
We landed simultaneously, in what would have been an awesome flying display had I not dumped my nose and biffed the prop. It still looked fucking cool, and I'm sure Helga the cook saw it and I'm getting some schnitzel tonight, if you know what I mean......
